Vice President for Mission Integration:

Claire Noonan D.Min

Claire Noonan is a mission-centered leader and strategic thinker currently serving as Vice President for Mission Integration at Loyola University Chicago. As the University’s chief mission officer, she works to strengthen the Jesuit, Catholic identity of the institution and the intellectual and spiritual development of its students, faculty, staff and affiliated community.

Recognized as a leader in national conversations on mission integration and effectiveness and a published author on spirituality, higher education, and Catholic thought, Claire has collaborated and presented at the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU); Council of Independent Colleges Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education; Interfaith Youth Core; and Dominican Higher Education Council.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religion. She earned a Master of Divinity degree at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, and an Ecumenical Doctor of Ministry degree at Catholic Theological Union, with a concentration in spirituality. 

She is the Past President of the Community of Congregations, an interfaith organization in her neighborhood home of Oak Park, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory High School, and St. Giles School Board of Specified Jurisdiction.

Director of Spiritual Formation:

Christopher Murphy

Chris Murphy is the Director of Spiritual Formation for Loyola University Chicago and is an ordained deacon in the Roman Catholic Church. He has ministered at Loyola for 22 years. Chris is a long time Rambler having earned all three of his degrees from Loyola. He has a Bachelor degree in Communication, a Master in Social Work and a Master in Divinity. He has been a chaplain to the business school, the director of campus ministry and now is a director in Mission Integration. Chris works to advance the understanding and integration of Loyola’s Jesuit heritage. He facilitates new employee orientation to the university’s mission, provides mission formation programing and co-coordinates the long form of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius Retreat.

Associate Director of Spiritual Formation:

Lauren Schwer

A trained educator, dedicated minister, and experienced spiritual director, Lauren Schwer has been involved with Ignatian formation in a variety of roles for the entirety of the 21st century. Lauren is the Associate Director in the Division of Mission Integration at Loyola University Chicago, where she focuses on the spiritual formation of faculty and staff and co-coordinates the university’s Spiritual Exercises program. Prior to this role, she served as the Associate Director of Campus Ministry at Loyola where she developed and implemented a campus-wide retreat program. Having taught at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate level, Lauren’s passion for teaching continues in Catholic Studies, the Institute for Pastoral Studies, and a variety of internships focused on spiritual direction and the Spiritual Exercises through Loyola’s Jesuit Community. Prior to her arrival at Loyola in 2010, she served as a high school teacher, campus minister, and coach for Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in the Washington, D.C. area. Lauren earned both her B.A. in Theology and M.A. in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College, and has certificates in Spiritual Direction (Loyola University Chicago) and Spiritual Entrepreneurship (Columbia Business School).
