Data Governance

The goal of Data Governance is to:

  • Enable consistent and compliant data management across the university, facilitate informed decision-making, and support the seamless integration of systems and processes during the DTI transformation program.
  • Establish robust policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms that ensure the integrity, security, accessibility, and quality of institutional data post implementation.

Data Governance encompasses 5 key pillars:

  • Data Quality - keeping data accurate, consistent, and reliable through storage, conversion, transfer, and viewing across platforms.
  • Data Knowledge & Literacy - having the appropriate institutional knowledge and understanding of your data.
  • Data Ownership & Knowledge - having a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities for managing institutional data.
  • Data Accessibility - ensuring that data is accessible and usable for individuals or business functions that require it.
  • Data Security - developing a systematic classification of data based on its level of sensitivity and the establishment f protocols to protect data.
