Semester Transition
All Quinlan School of Business graduate programs are moving to a semester-based academic calendar, beginning in Fall 2027, to better support our students.
The redesigned semester curriculum and transition plans for current students will be available in Spring 2027. Following the transition, courses will be 15 weeks long during Fall and Spring semester and 10 weeks long during Summer semester. Select courses will still run during winter break and spring break.

Why move to semesters
The transition to semesters is designed to support your goals. It will lead to:
- Deeper learning and stronger faculty relationships through the longer semester format
- More convenient scheduling, as you will be able to take up to two classes in a single evening
- Greater predictability in scheduling with fewer academic term transitions in the semester system
- Expanded opportunities to take graduate courses through other Loyola schools and colleges to meet your professional goals

This move to semesters will not affect your courses or requirements.
Current students completing degree requirements after Fall 2027
Please schedule time with your academic advisor for personalized guidance. We are committed to helping you graduate on time. In the meantime, please:
- Continue with your current plan of study. Your current plan of study remains in effect until Fall 2027. Your advisor will help you determine the best courses to take through the transition to semesters.
- Rely on official Quinlan communications. Please turn to your academic advisor and official Quinlan communications like this webpage and the Quinlan Graduate Announcements newsletter for official information. Please avoid making academic or financial decisions based on assumptions or incomplete information.
- Submit questions to the Quinlan Graduate Programs Office. In addition to your advisor, you can send questions to the Graduate Programs Office through Q2S-Questions@luc.edu.
New students starting in Spring 2027
New students starting in Spring 2027 will begin on quarters for Spring and Summer, then transition to the semester calendar and the redesigned curriculum in Fall 2027. Please schedule time with your academic advisor for personalized guidance.
New students starting in Fall 2027 or later
If you start classes in Fall 2027 or later, you will follow the semester calendar and redesigned curriculum, which will be announced in Spring 2027.
