About

Nicola Di Mauro earned his PhD in the Contemporary History of Islam at the Department of Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. His doctoral research concerned the management of the Islamic religious field in Italy with specific reference to the organization and action of Moroccan Muslims or Muslims of Moroccan origin. In recent years he has worked in projects funded by the EU – in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Justice and the Department of Penitentiary Administration – focused on jihadist radicalization in Italian prisons. An associate researcher at the local unit of the University of Padua for the Erasmus+ project “Les trajectoires des diaspora turque et marocaine en Europe” (lead partner Université Saint-Louis, Brussels), Di Mauro is currently working as post-doc at University of Naples “L’Orientale”, he focuses his research on relationships between Islamic communities and institutions in the southern regions of Italy.
