Community and Employer Partnerships

Propelling Futures Together

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at Loyola University Chicago actively works to build and maintain partnerships with organizations committed to enhancing equity and driving the social mobility of historically overlooked student groups. Notable examples include:

Year Up

SCPS continues a proud partnership with Year Up Chicago, the local campus of a national organization committed to closing the Opportunity Divide by unlocking new opportunities in careers and higher education.

With Year Up programming serving as the foundation for young adults’ long-term success, SCPS provides a variety of supports to help Year Up students and alumni complete their bachelor’s degree, including:

  • A dedicated advisor to support you and help you understand your transfer and education options
  • No application fees
  • Loyola accepts American Council of Education credit you earned via Year Up as elective credit, including Internship Seminar and Practicum courses, as well as up to 64 credits from community colleges
  • Extensive scholarship opportunities, including the Achieve the Degree Scholarship and the SCPS Fellows Program, a tuition assistance match program with employers

One Million Degrees

In 2006, a group of social entrepreneurs noted the high number of community college students struggling to complete their studies and matriculate into four-year degree programs. One Million Degrees (OMD) became their answer to addressing that troubling reality.

SCPS offers a scholarship program dedicated to OMD scholars and alumni. Each academic year, SCPS awards five $5,000 scholarships to OMD scholars and alumni pursuing a degree at SCPS.

Hope Chicago

Launched in 2022, Hope Chicago is an innovative multi-generational scholarship program committed to investing $1 billion in postsecondary scholarships to Chicago Public School (CPS) students and their parents/guardians, who are prime candidates for SCPS enrollment as adult learners. Hope Chicago will provide one parent or guardian of a selected student access to debt-free higher education at SCPS.
