SOC alumna establishes new scholarship

Loyola School of Communication alumna Sabrina Wottreng has established a scholarship fund, committing $2,000 annually for three years for SOC students.

Wottreng, a 2013 graduate with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations, is a successful public relations executive in Chicago, and is eager to support students seeking careers in communication.

"As a proud graduate of Loyola's School of Communication, I wanted to help foster the next generation of communications professionals,” said Wottreng, owner of Sabrina Wottreng Public Relations. “I remember how significant additional scholarship money would have been to me and decided to establish a scholarship in my firm's name. I challenge every person to reach back and help those following in their footsteps.”

Dr. Hong Cheng, Dean of the School of Communication, expressed thanks to Wottreng for the new scholarship.

“Ms. Sabrina Wottreng is an outstanding and caring Loyola SOC alumna. We deeply appreciate her support to our students,” Cheng said. “Her generous scholarship will surely help and inspire the communication professionals in the making in our school.”

Juniors and seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations are eligible to apply for the Sabrina Wottreng Public Relations Annual Scholarship. Preference will be given to those with a focus in public relations, as determined by the University. The deadline to apply for the inaugural scholarship is October 1, 2021. Wottreng started her own public relations agency in 2016 and has carved out a niche serving an ever-growing list of B2B companies in commercial real estate, technology and law, among other industries. She was named to Publicity Club of Chicago's '30 Under 30' list for the past three consecutive years for her leadership and excellence in the field.

A 2013 graduate of Loyola’s School of Communication, Wottreng was named to commercial real estate publication GlobeSt.com’s 2019 Marketing Influencers List, a list recognizing individuals and teams in the commercial real estate marketing space.
