L.A.U.D. Trainees Present @ MMPC

L.A.U.D.

Welcome to Loyola Adventures in Urobiome Data (L.A.U.D.) Research Program

Applications for the 2026-2027 program due June 15, 2026.

Details about the application can be found in the "Applying" button below.

Technological advances have had a profound effect on medicine. A patient’s genome and the microbial communities (microbiome) that inhabit the human body can be sequenced. This deluge of data has led to new discoveries and new fields, including the fields of Bioinformatics and Health Informatics, and has transformed biomedical research and patient care.

L.A.U.D. will introduce students to how data is revolutionizing urinary disease research. Over 8-months, trainees gain exposure to research areas in benign urologic disease, conduct hypothesis-driven research, and develop the skills to synthesize, interpret, and present their scientific research.  Student researchers work with research faculty, postdoctoral and clinical fellows, and medical and graduate students engaged in urinary research at Loyola University Chicago. These research experiences will be 100% online and open to students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in the US, including all states and territories.
