Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University Chicago. We are a dynamic and collaborative community of scientists united by a passion for discovery and a shared commitment to understanding the science underlying infectious diseases and the host immune responses that seek to protect us from these diseases. Our research spans fundamental and translational areas—from microbial pathogenesis and immune signaling to host–pathogen interactions and vaccine development.
Equally central to our mission is the training and mentorship of graduate students. We are dedicated to cultivating the next generation of scientists through rigorous academic preparation, immersive laboratory experiences, and a supportive environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Whether you are a prospective student, postdoctoral fellow, research partner, or colleague, I invite you to explore our department and engage with the groundbreaking work we are doing to advance science and make a meaningful impact on the world.
