Division of Student Development

Guidelines

Each department in the Division of Student Development is responsible for:

Preparing an assessment plan and registering the plan with the Director of Assessment.

Developing measurable learning outcomes for students. Every department will formulate and publish its intended student learning outcomes. Outcomes should be articulated for the department as a whole and for specific programs/initiatives within that department.

Implementing systems and processes to define and collect data on student learning, incorporating  both quantitative and qualitative data collection. Each year departments will conduct assessment of some component of their intended student learning outcomes. A summarized assessment report will be collected for the Division’s Annual Report.

Ensuring timely dissemination of data and analyses for continuous improvement of practice.

Evaluating the collected data and determining how the information gleaned will be used to enhance programs.

Submitting an Annual Assessment Report to the Division of Student Development by May 16, 2014. In addition to using assessment results for continuous co-curricular improvements, assessment reports will also be reviewed by DAWG to uphold the Division’s Assessment Cycle.
