About Digital Badging
The Digital Badging Program exists to provide the framework for the development, approval, design, and issuance of digital badges at Loyola University Chicago (LUC). Digital badges allow the university to recognize select achievements and accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, community learners, and other stakeholders.
Digital badges are easily shared electronically via social media and other online platforms and allow recipients to showcase specific earned skills and accomplishments. Digital badges may be used in email signatures or digital resumes and provide learners with a way to display microcredentials in the same way that diplomas represent degrees. Digital badges contain verified metadata that describes the qualifications and the process required to earn the credential. The design and format of digital badges enables stakeholders to quickly view and understand what each digital badge represents.
The Digital Badging Steering Committee comprises of members of Academic Affairs, Information Technology Services and Academic Schools and Institutes to review and evaluate badge submission proposals, and upon approval, enabling departments the ability to manage distribution of badges upon completion of badge requirements.
Digital Badging Review Committee
Initial Digital Badging Review Committee membership will be comprised of the pilot group constituents. Future composition will be determined during the pilot program with expansion plans to include faculty and staff members from each LUC campus.
