Background

The Student Journal on Rule of Law (PROLAW Student Journal) aims to educate and sensitize the members of the legal, academic, socio-economic and development communities on cross-cutting rule of law for development issues. Its guiding principle is improvement in understanding, adhering to and promoting the rule of law worldwide. PROLAW students edit, manage and publish the journal. The rule of law isn't disappearing. It's eroding in ways that are harder to see.

Courts stay open. Laws stay on the books. But the World Justice Project found the rule of law declining in 68% of countries for the eighth year running — and this volume asks why institutions can survive while losing the power to restrain power. For the first time, an entire volume is devoted to book reviews, with PROLAW's editorial board testing seven works of scholarship against that question.
