The road to a JD

With a myriad of options, our students tailor their learning experiences to their interests and career goals

At Loyola, you’re in charge of your legal education. Building on the solid foundation of courses required for all students, you’ll choose from a wide array of curricular and co-curricular options for developing specialized knowledge and hands-on skills. Meet three Loyola law students—Christopher Dempsey, Edward Mahan, and Pilar Mendez who are graduating in May. Each took full advantage of opportunities to prepare for the careers they want.

Chris Dempsey

Chris Dempsey took advantage of an invitation to be mentored—and wound up helping protect the rights of the citizens of Malawi.

Pilar Mendez

Pilar Mendez’s early introduction to the healthcare system highlighted the disparities in access and care often faced by racial minorities.

Ted Mahan

Ted Mahan has carefully crafted his JD education to specialize in intellectual property.
