Goal

The goal of Quinlan’s Executive MBA program is to prepare motivated mid-to-senior level business professionals to distinguish themselves in the marketplace as innovative problem solvers who understand good business practices and have the personal intellect, skills, and courage to deliver them. Participants hone their analytic, management, and leadership skills; refine their ability to integrate various business disciplines; enhance their critical thinking skills; develop as ethical, responsible leaders; and explore business issues in a global context.

Objectives

By the end of the program students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the capacity for critical analysis in processing, interpreting, and managing quantitative and qualitative information necessary for effective managerial decision making.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical obligations responsible leaders have to all stakeholders in the conduct of business ventures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the elements of ethical integrity in a business leader and the importance of integrity in successful business ventures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the kinds of issues that arise in international business and the means for effectively addressing them.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of differences in culture, race, religion, gender, and other kinds of diversity that impact business decisions, domestically and internationally.
  • Identify internal and external forces supporting and impending change in a business situation.
  • Identify and evaluate possible solutions to business problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate (oral, written, and interpersonally) in a professional and credible manner.
  • Produce a business plan that demonstrates the ability to integrate the techniques, processes, and procedures of the fundamental business disciplines (accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management, human resource management, and operations management and information technology). The business plan will illustrate the application of theory, skills, and knowledge to practice.

Goal

The goal of Quinlan’s MBA Health Care Management program is to prepare motivated health care professionals to distinguish themselves as innovative problem solvers who understand good business practices and have the personal intellect, skills, and courage to deliver them. Participants hone their analytic, management, and leadership skills; refine their ability to integrate various business disciplines; enhance their critical thinking skills; develop as ethical, responsible leaders; and explore health care management issues in a global context.

Outcomes

By the end of this program students will be able to:

  • Show proficiency in the fundamental business disciplines (accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, human resource, operations management, and information technology).
  • Demonstrate understanding of the key drivers and complex issues impacting various segments of the health care industry, nationally and internationally.
  • Demonstrate the capacity for critical analysis in processing, interpreting, and managing qualitative and quantitative information for effective managerial decision making.
  • Understand global issues in health care management, how they compare to the U.S., and the options for effectively addressing them.
  • Demonstrate awareness in the differences in health care delivery and management as related to culture, race, religion, gender, and other kinds of diversity that impact business decisions, nationally and internationally.
  • Articulate specific characteristics of ethical leadership in health care management and the reasons these characteristics are essential.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the ethical obligations leaders must have to all stakeholders in the delivery of health care services, products, and resources.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate (oral, written, and interpersonally) in a professional and credible manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively participate in and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Produce a business plan that demonstrates the ability to integrate the techniques, processes, and procedures of the fundamental and industry-specific disciplines. The business plan will also illustrate the application of theory, skills and knowledge to practice.

Goal

The goal of the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program is to build upon fundamental undergraduate accounting knowledge (or graduate prerequisite knowledge) and prepare students for successful careers in the accounting profession as well as provide the necessary graduate credential for CPA examination eligibility. To accomplish this, the Department of Accounting and Business Law shares the vision, mission, values, and pledges made by the University and the Quinlan School of Business.  However, the department also makes the following pledges to its students:

  • To continuously strive to add value to the classroom experience.
  • To recognize that while there is a professional relationship that must be maintained between students and their professor. We view our relationship as a partnership, with rights allowed and responsibilities expected from both faculty and students.
  • To recognize that learning occurs outside the classroom as well as inside. To this end, the department pledges to actively support student activities and initiatives that further enhance their educational experience.

Outcomes

Upon completion of the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program, graduates are expected to have acquired essential skills in the areas of:

  • Measurement: Graduate accounting students will demonstrate the ability to identify what needs to be measured, apply the appropriate measures, and recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the measures used.
  • Decision Making: Graduate accounting students will demonstrate the ability to critically use financial and non-financial data in decision-making.
  • Research: Graduate accounting students will demonstrate the ability to research new or existing accounting issues and topics, understand the link between business and accounting, and apply the finding to the business condition.
  • Risk Analysis: Graduate accounting students will demonstrate the ability to identify and manage risk.
  • Communication: Graduate accounting students will possess the ability to communicate scope, findings and recommendations of accounting work.

Goal

The goal of the Master of Science in Business Data Analytics (MSBDA) program is to prepare students for successful careers in industry as data analysts, scientists, and managers. 

Outcomes

Upon completion of the Master of Science in Business Data Analytics program, students will:

  • Have a broad education in data analytics as it applies to the activities of the business and industry.
  • Gain a deep understanding of some of the tools and software that are used in modern day analytics.
  • Be able to transform large data sets into insightful and actionable information in an easy-to-understand format to assist organizational decision making through the use of advanced analytical tools.
  • Be able to evaluate the appropriate methods and tools for data analysis in specific organizational contexts, including selecting a modeling approach, building a model using appropriate tools, validating the model, and deploying the model for prediction and analysis.
  • Develop experience tackling industry-specific problems and challenges using advanced analytics and computational methods.

Goal

The goal of the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program is to prepare finance professionals for a variety of roles at the frontiers of the finance profession, by stressing the parallel development of a solid grounding in received finance theory and a hands-on, practical, data-driven approach. In addition, the Department of Finance shares the vision, mission, values, and goals of Loyola University University and the Quinlan School of Business. 

Outcomes

At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Demonstrate strong valuation skills in the areas of equities, fixed income, and derivative securities of various types using state-of-the-art techniques.
  • Show mastery of various aspects of financial mathematics and modeling.
  • Understand how to identify and manage the risks inherent in a corporate or portfolio management setting, including equity risk, as well as interest rate and credit risk.
  • Exhibit mastery of programming through various financial problems and situations, as well as econometric analysis.
  • Deliver, engage with, and respond to oral content in a professional manner.
  • Produce professional quality written business documents supported by evidence that convey the appropriate tone and style for an intended audience.
  • Deliver interdependent, empathic and global solutions to production, trade, and consumption.
  • Incorporate transparency and social justice in all domestic and global financial decisions, through examples and case studies that bring ethical issues to the fore.

Goal

The MSHR Program is designed to prepare students for a successful career as human resources and employment relations professional.   

Outcomes

Upon completing this program, graduates are expected to:

  • Understand the theoretical and practical demands of HR professional career and human relations requirements of being an effective manager; both of which involve attracting, engaging, and retaining talented employees.   
  • Develop and administer human resource strategies, programs and policies in the specific functional areas including talent acquisition/staffing (including employment planning, recruitment, and selection), HR development and training, compensation and benefits, performance management and employment relations. 
  • Understand how the practice of effective human resource management can positively impact the business and result in a competitive advantage to the organization.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills which involve complex human behavior and motivation. 
  • Appreciate of the value and methods for sustaining employee diversity including a global perspective as it relates to human resources.  
  • Develop research, written, and oral communications skills by preparing in-depth case presentations and reports.
  • Appreciate ethical perspectives and support sustainable outcomes with respect to all aspects of HR management.
  • Prepare for Society of Human Resource Management Certification.

Goal

The goal of the Master of Science in Information Systems and Analytics program is to prepare business professionals to use advanced knowledge and skills of data analytics and information systems and assume a leadership role in managing data-driven projects, initiatives, departments, and organizations.

Outcomes

At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Use data to drive strategic and tactical business decisions.   
  • Utilize sophisticated database, data warehousing, data mining, and data visualization methodologies and techniques to capture and apply data as a corporate asset.
  • Demonstrate competence with SQL and one or more programming languages.
  • Lead, supervise, and manage information systems projects of varying levels of complexity.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with technical and non-technical individuals and groups.
  • Show ability to effectively collaborate with and provide technical leadership to a variety of business units and organizations.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical aptitude in design, development, and use of information systems components.
  • Integrate values and ethics into data analysis and information systems projects and solutions.

Goal

The goal of the Master of Marketing program is to prepare business professionals at the master’s level to assume leadership roles and to apply advanced knowledge and techniques within the marketing areas of organizations.  The Department of Marketing shares and supports the vision, mission, values, and goals of Loyola University Chicago and the Quinlan Graduate School of Business.

Outcomes

At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Exercise leadership in the creation of sustainable solutions to marketing challenges through understanding the ways in which current consumer needs can be met without diminishing the quality of the environment or reducing the capacity of future generations to meet their needs.
  • Discern assumptions and biases that exist among information, misinformation, and disinformation. 
  • Deliver, engage, and respond to oral content in a professional manner.
  • Produce professional quality written business documents supported by evidence that convey the appropriate tone and style of writing for the intended audience.
  • Propose and deliver interdependent, empathic, and global solutions to production, trade, and consumption.
  • Incorporate transparency and social justice in all domestic and global marketing decisions.
  • Understand, formulate, integrate, manage, and execute the elements of a marketing plan.
  • Apply appropriate research techniques to investigate consumer, social, and environmental trends while understanding and respecting how and why consumers behave and are influenced by cultural, social, and perceptual factors.
  • Understand how various elements of the marketing mix (offerings, branding, pricing, distribution, promotion, and digital tools) are combined and coordinated within the framework of a marketing strategy.

Goal

The goal of the Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program is to prepare business professionals at the master’s level to use advanced knowledge and skills to assume leadership roles in managing today’s supply chain.

Outcomes

At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Use advanced supply chain strategies and be able to implement these strategies in a variety of global business environments. 
  • Utilize sophisticated methodologies to improve or optimize operations across a wide range of industries.
  • Execute advanced tasks associated with process design and improvement, transportation management, inventory management, and purchasing management. 
  • Improve decision-making through use of simulation techniques to model supply chains and evaluate results through repetitive testing.
  • Apply data visualization techniques to understand, utilize, and communicate important supply chain data.  
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead a diverse team comprised of individuals within a variety of business units.   
  • Exhibit proficiency in modeling, development, and use of databases, with an expertise in design, implementation, and utilization of business database management systems. 
  • Utilize effective forecasting methodologies to predict demand, enhance business decisions, and improve efficiency throughout the supply chain.  
  • Integrate values, ethics, and sustainability into supply chain management.

Goal

The goal of the Business Data Analytics Graduate Certificate program is to prepare business professionals to use advanced knowledge and skills of data analytics and participate on a professional level in data-driven projects.

Outcomes

At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Utilize sophisticated database, data warehousing, data mining, and data visualization methodologies and techniques to capture and utilize data as a corporate asset.
  • Manage data analytics projects of varying levels of complexity.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with technical and non-technical individuals and groups.
  • Integrate values and ethics into data analysis projects and solutions.

Goal

The goal of the Business Ethics Graduate Certificate program is to prepare business professionals to understand ethical issues in business and the challenges of managing corporate social responsibility programs. To accomplish this goal, the Department of Management provides a flexible course of study for ethics professionals who develop and implement corporate ethics programs, academics who seek to teach and do research in business ethics, and others who seek a greater knowledge of business ethics to enhance their careers in organizations.

Outcomes

At the completion of the program, graduates are expected to:

  • Develop an awareness of different ethical standards and perspectives as well as a tolerance for the conflicts and ambiguities within an organization to work respectfully, ethically, and professionally with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences.
  • Develop, formulate and implement guidelines for personal and corporate decision-making.
  • Understand principles of organizational relationships, and a sensitivity to the ethical concerns associated with dynamics like interpersonal influence, authority, and conflict.
  • Demonstrate ability to think critically about managerial ethics, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship while articulating such concerns to various audiences—inside and outside of a business organization.

Goal

The HRER Certificate program is designed to prepare students for a successful career as human resources and employment relations professional.   

Outcomes

Upon completing this program, graduates are expected to:
