Today was our first site visit with Philips Personal Health in Stamford, Connecticut! Our host and Quinlan alum--Birger Buesching--was fantastic!

During our visit, we were treated to a series of enlightening presentations that started with Maddy Pigott discussing marketing strategies within the healthcare sector. She emphasized the importance of recognizing how Philips needs to adapt its marketing for the Avent brand--the childcare sector of the company--due to declining birth rates across North America (NA).

Daniel Fleisher and Ryan Ganger also spoke and delved into supply chain analytics at Philips; they both highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making in forecasting, planning, and optimizing the supply chain to adapt to consumer demands in NA efficiently. He provided incredibly detailed examples and an intriguing case study to illustrate how analytics help in predicting trends and solving logistical challenges.

Finally, Birger Buesching wrapped up the session by taking a closer look at the overall role of the supply chain in a corporation like Philips. He discussed the intricacies of maintaining efficiency and sustainability in logistics and procurement and discussed the various difficulties that come with managing a global supply chain.

Overall, I found this site visit with Philips incredibly informative and exceptional, and it was definitely a great start to our trip! Ryan and Daniel's parts about supply chain analytics was particularly interesting to me as it's among my top career choice post graduation from Quinlan!

Following our visit with Phillips, we took our shuttle back to our hotel. We had a little bit of downtime after we got back, so Arisha and I decided to go biking in Central Park for a half hour before returning to the hotel to walk over to Trattoria Trecolori for dinner!
