Today concluded the site visits for the 10th Quinlan Ramble, marking the end of an excellent selection of networking and learning opportunities during our trip to NYC. We started our day at 9:15 am; it was a marginally earlier start than the day before, so we only had time to grab a quick breakfast before heading to our first site visit.

First, we walked to Cerberus Capital Management, a global alternative investment firm with a focus on private equity, private credit, traditional real estate, and various supply-chain-related investment strategies. We were hosted by Dan Marquart, a VP at the firm, with a background in investment banking at William Blair and sovereign investing in Abu Dhabi. Dan shared his perspective on how private equity firms are currently working to manage raised interest rates, the very real lifestyle challenges faced in high-intensity business career paths (and how to mitigate them), and about how the culture surrounding MBAs is continuing to change in industries historically dominated by the graduate degree.

Next, we visited McCann Global Health, an advertising agency focused on helping healthcare providers communicate with consumers through visual storytelling. This time, we were hosted by Michael Quinlan, a Loyola alum who attended Loyola’s dual MBA-JD program before entering the advertising world. Michael shared McCann’s process for conceptualizing and producing advertising content for clients. He then showed us some of the ads that McCann has crafted, in addition to some of the most influential ads of all time. Finally, Michael gave us a tour of the breathtaking views from the 26th floor of McCann’s building.

With that, our (official) site visits were finished for the trip! We spent the rest of the day visiting coffee shops, grabbing shawarma from a food truck, thrifting clothing, and seeing a Broadway play. Overall, a great way to cap off another fun and busy day in NYC.
