Simulation Development

The Center for Simulation Education can help any lead planner - from novice to expert - design, implement, and evaluate a simulation session and/or an integrated simulation curriculum.  Lead planners collaborate with the CSE  Director of Simulation Curriculum and Research and use our vast  resources to best meet the simulation needs of learners.  CSE staff use best practices from developing objectives and completing a needs assessment for one simulation session to creating an entire simulation program.    The design, implementation, and evaluation of simulation should be inclusive and focus on the psychological safety of the learner, the facilitator, and all other participants. The first-step for all CSE simulation development is the submission of a Simulation Experience Request Form

 Other Resources for Simulation Development:

Professional Development

The Center for Simulation Education (CSE) is committed to promoting and providing initial and ongoing professional development for simulationists. The professional development process may include any or all the following:

  1. new CSE staff onboarding activities for the CSE and university;
  2. initial simulation training, including a general orientation to the CSE and introduction to simulation;
  3. ongoing learning opportunities on simulation best practices

The Sim 111-Professional Development Policy states that all CSE staff, lead planners, and facilitators are required to complete the CSE initial simulation training prior to the first simulation session on their own.  The CSE has developed content for three different professional development modules, Intro to Sim, Facilitating Sim, and Designing Sim.  These modules are on a Sakai project site; staff, lead planners, and facilitators will complete modules prior to their first simulation.  Other optional professional development opportunities related to simulation will be provided throughout the year through the CSE.
