Placement for Non-Majors

Many courses offered by the dance program count towards core curriculum credit in Artistic Knowledge and Experience as well as the area of Engaged Learning.

Auditions are not required for dance minors or for students wanting to take Level I dance classes.

All dancers enrolling in dance courses Level II or above should attend the Dance Placement & New Student Orientation, usually held prior to the start of each semester. This is an opportunity for all incoming dancers to meet faculty, learn about course offerings and the dance minor or major, and most importantly, to ensure that they are correctly placed in the technique level. Students should come with their course schedules and appropriate dance clothes and shoes.

Fall 2023 Orientation and Academic Advising

All incoming Dance students level II or above should plan to attend the Dance Orientation and Academic Advising Session. This will be held on Friday, August 25th at 10am.

Location: MUND 409

Students will have the opportunity to meet the faculty, learn about the Dance program at Loyola, receive advising on technique course level placement and learn about extracurricular dance clubs and performance opportunities.

We will also hold orientations for incoming Dance majors and provide information and advising about the Dance minor.
