Four new full-time faculty joined the Quinlan School of Business in fall 2026. Together, they bring to Quinlan students decades of industry experience across four disciplines and insights into emerging technologies.

Meet the new faculty

Maria Bessa Ribeiro, Economics

Ribeiro is an assistant professor of economics, with primary fields of study in macroeconomics, monetary economics, finance, and economic history. Her research examines how economic policy impacts bank survival and economic history and led to her creating one of the most comprehensive banking datasets from the Depression era, which contains more than 800,000 banking institutions.

Ribeiro is on leave as a civil servant at the Central Bank of Brazil.

Sean Connolly, Marketing

Connolly joins Quinlan as a lecturer of marketing and the graduate program director for Quinlan’s Executive Degrees. He has been involved with Loyola for years, earning his BA and MBA at Loyola before serving as Loyola's director of neighborhood initiatives and an adjunct instructor at Quinlan.

He is the co-founder and executive director of Helix Education, which activates learning opportunities across communities for students of all ages. He has also served in a variety of roles in the community.

Edoardo Marchesi, Finance

Assistant Professor of Finance Marchesi specializes in research at the intersection of entrepreneurial finance and innovation, specifically with emerging technologies like AI and how they shape private markets and decisions by business leaders.

He’s eager to help prepare students for an ever-changing job market through financial knowledge and skills to adapt and capitalize on new technologies.

Lisa McLuckie, Accounting

McLuckie, who joins Loyola as an instructor and faculty advisor of Beta Alpha Psi, has an extensive background in accounting, having worked in public accounting and internal auditing, specializing in taxation and accounting education. Her research focuses on how emerging technologies like AI are changing accounting and how people make decisions.

Now, she’s excited to do what she enjoys the most: teach and mentor others in how accounting affects the decisions organizations make every day. She’s looking forward to bringing real-world examples into her classroom and helping students understand the language of accounting.
