Campus

At home in Rome. Benvenuti!

While you study abroad in Rome at the John Felice Rome Center, we want you to feel right at home. We'll provide all the support you'll need to ensure a smooth transition to living in Italy.

Our home

Our campus spans more than five acres in the residential upper Balduina district of Monte Mario, Rome's highest hill. You'll have everything you need while living on a campus in the center of a lively neighborhood that isn't packed with tourists. The area is home to diplomats, senators, judges, and other distinguished families.

Our convenient location

The nearest bus stop is only two blocks away, providing a short, 15-minute ride to Vatican City or an easy 30-minute trip to the rest of Rome's historic center. Within walking distance, you'll enjoy grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, hairdressers, the post office, and other small businesses.

Our Community

You'll share a life-changing experience of discovery and scholarship enhanced by fellowship and fun. Our diverse, tight-knit community gathers for nights out at the nearby pizzeria, trips to the papal audiences, soccer matches, opera nights, cooking classes, volunteer opportunities, language exchange and much more. Our campus has much to offer as well. Mass is celebrated weekly, and each fall students help harvest roughly 100 kilos of olives from our grove for our campus olive oil and each spring they extract the honey from the 3 beehives located on the campus. Students are surrounded by the support of a strong Residence Life staff who are knowledgeable and immersed in the greater community of Rome. To get a better feel for the area, check out our JFRC map of the Balduina neighborhood.

Explore your Calling

Our American-style campus houses up to 230 students and has a full staff and amenities. But it’s our extensive engaged learning and service opportunities that help our students become true global citizens.

Rome

At the JFRC, you can enjoy all the excitement of the bustling historic center of the city, while living and attending class in a residential Roman neighborhood away from the tourist throng. It's the best of both worlds.

Study Abroad Experience

Our students’ worldviews are expanded through experiences, community, and education. For 60 years, Rome has been the ideal laboratory for our students to engage in a holistic, humanities-based immersive curriculum.

Engaged Learning

You can only get the full Roman experience by also engaging with the city, its people, and its needs. We call this "engaged learning," which happens through our Service Learning courses and our Internship course.
