Future Journalists Get Hands-On at SoC

Loyola Academy students step into the studio for a behind-the-scenes look at broadcast journalism and the opportunity to deliver their own recorded news reports from the SoC anchor desk.

Students from St. Ignatius College Prep and Loyola Academy recently visited the School of Communication for separate broadcast journalism field trips.

The students took video cameras on Michigan Avenue, where they interviewed passersby about some of Chicago's latest news and events.

From camera training to street interviews, St. Ignatius students get hands-on experience with the tools and techniques of broadcast journalism.

Students also gained hands-on broadcasting experience by delivering news reports from the School of Communication's television studio anchor desk, where their performances were recorded.
