This list is intended to be a resource in the search for scholarship opportunities to help subsidize your graduate education. If you would like additional information regarding financial aid at Loyola, please visit the Financial Aid Office webpage.

Performance-based scholarship focused on student need
Awarded to incoming admitted MSW students who demonstrate financial need, community engagement, a commitment to academic success at Loyola, and potential in the social work profession. Students can apply for this scholarship directly through their admitted student portal. The strength of all application materials (i.e. personal statement, resume, and FAFSA* application) is considered when awarding these internal scholarships.
*Students ineligible for FAFSA can still apply to the scholarship by completing the net price calculator form and uploading the results into the scholarship application. Please note, while the terminology on this online calculator is geared towards undergraduate programs, the financial questions and outcomes are still relevant for graduate programs.

Lester Czernik Scholarship
Awarded to 1-2 incoming MSW students who demonstrate financial need and promise to the social work profession. Preference is given to applicants who are graduates of a Chicago Public High School, first-generation college students, or speak English as a second language. This scholarship application is open and available to apply beginning every April; an email will be sent to new admits with link to apply.
Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County (HFNLC) Scholarship
The Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County (HFNLC) Scholarship is awarded to a handful of incoming 2025/2026 MSW students who demonstrate financial need and promise to the social work profession within the regions of Lake County, IL and will commit to working as a social worker within Lake County for a minimum of 2 years after graduating with their MSW degree from Loyola University Chicago.
Students may apply for this scholarship directly on your admitted student portal. The strength of all application materials (i.e. personal statement, resume, and FAFSA* application) is considered when awarding this scholarship.

- NASW Foundation: The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Foundation offers various scholarships, fellowships, and awards to support students pursuing a variety of social work specialties.
- Carl A. Scott Book Scholarship: Recognizes full-time students in their final year of social work education who have demonstrated commitment to promoting social justice and equity. The scholarships are targeted but not limited to minority/BIPOC individuals.
- The Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation Scholarship: Provides merit and financial assistance graduate scholarships to full-time students who demonstrate community service and involvement.
- Community and Economic Development Association (CEDA) of Cook County Scholarship Program: Awarded to income-eligible residents of suburban Cook County, Illinois, who demonstrate academic achievement, career potential, and educational motivation.
- The Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship: Supports full-time students with a track record of leadership and community involvement, strong academic achievement, and working for the betterment of the LGBTQ community.
- Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grants: A $9,000 grant for empirical and applied research focused on LGBT family psychology and LGBT family therapy.
- National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP): Offers numerous scholarships to students who display academic excellence and early signs of leadership and a commitment to social justice.
- The Melanie Foundation: Awards a $2,500 scholarship to a candidate pursuing a graduate degree in the mental health field.
- Loan Repayment Program: Sponsored by the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), the Loan Repayment Program is a federal program for Licensed Clinical Social Workers with a commitment to working in an underserved area. Participants can earn up to $55,000 to repay student loans.
