Hello! My name is KamRyn Penix, and I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.

What is your degree and how/why did you select your degree?
After my own personal battles with mental illness and experiences with mental health professionals, I have been exposed to a career I would like to pursue and have decided on a major in psychology. I aspire to further my psychological education towards a master's degree in clinical psychology and work with adolescents in the future.

What is some advice you would give an incoming freshman?
Get involved, be yourself, and stay on top of things. That's the best advice I can give. Whenever you see any events or clubs, or professional opportunities being offered, jump at it. One of the biggest pros of attending an institution/program with such a smaller sixed student body is the amount of opportunity you are presented with. There is usually enough space to go around and not everyone is going to be paying attention to certain advances, so ensure that you are. College is also the time to reinvent yourself and become who you want to be. everyone is way less judgmental, and way more wrapped up in their own affairs to be paying deep attention to what you're doing. So, take that as a time to be your truest self, judgment-free.

What clubs and organizations do you belong to?
Here at Arrupe College, I am an active participant in Black Student Union as event coordinator and in Student Government of Arrupe College as Vice President. I have also participated in a leadership seminar held at Arrupe that was hosted by a nonprofit organization called Serving People with a Mission as well as spoke in a student panel providing insight of my experience as an Arrupe student.

What's the best thing you've done since coming to Arrupe?
Get involved, meet new people, and take every opportunity possible.

Connect with me to ask any questions you may have about life at Arrupe, classes and professors, clubs and activities, or anything else!
