Hello! My name is Ruby Hernandez. I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.
How I chose my degree:
From the beginning of my education, I knew I wanted to study business. I always had an inherent feeling of belonging, strong passion, and curiosity to learn more. I started at Arrupe College to get my associate's in business administration and refine what area of business I wanted to concentrate on.
My plans after graduation:
My educational goals revolve around my passion for giving back to the world. Being a person for others is a critical value that has been instilled in me since high school. I believe Loyola University will provide me with a world-class education in my chosen major accounting and the opportunity to get hands-on experience. Being an accounting student at Loyola is not only an investment in me but an investment in the world around me. The mission behind my major is what really excites me and motivates me to pursue my education.
Professor a new student should absolutely take a class with:
's Interpreting Literature class and 's Healthcare Ethics class. Dr. Cochran makes this class fun yet educational. Teaching us about how the world around us functions today. Dr. Tarantino's Healthcare Ethics class is incredibly eye-opening and makes you think about things you have never thought about before.
Class I never expected to love:
My Economics classes opened my eyes to what goes on in the back end. From a small business to the whole country. I was so fascinated to learn about the different approaches our country takes to ensure a healthy economy. My most challenging class was for sure accounting however it's also the one I've enjoyed the most. I have found a strong passion and curiosity to learn more about the accounting world. I attended different programs, and it helped me solidify my decision to fully pursue accounting as a degree.
Favorite spot on campus:
My favorite place on campus is the bean bags in the Office of Student Services (OSS) lounge. After a long day, I like to let myself fall on to the comfortable bean bags.
Best thing I've done since coming to Arrupe:
My most proud accomplishment since coming to Arrupe is being named the President Medallion on behalf of Arrupe College. This award means beyond what I can put into words and has opened so many doors for me. Loyola has made a huge impact on me over the last few years and shown me how intertwined my education and commitment to my faith are to each other.
Some surprisingly cool things about Arrupe:
There is no other college that supplies students with every material needed to be successful. From free meals, computers, books, and not to mention all the free services. Arrupe really does it all!!!!!
