CEO and Founder, GreenCat Advisors

Stephen Ban is a longtime leader of the Chicago business community. He began his career as a brand manager at the Quaker Oats Company, then, after an unusual detour in the radio comedy business, worked as a creative and account person at the Chicago office of Ogilvy & Mather. Thereafter, he led marketing efforts at several multi-billion dollar companies including Heller Financial, Aon Corporation, T. Rowe Price, and Nuveen. At the latter, he developed a passion for ESG and sustainable investing, which he continues to pursue.

He recently launched GreenCat Advisors, which works with mission-driven for-profit and not-for-profit organizations that seek to operate and communicate more effectively while they impact the greater good.

Stephen is an accomplished triathlete, and serves on the board of the USA Triathlon Foundation, the charitable arm of triathlon’s National Governing Body. The Foundation’s goal is to make multisport accessible to everyone, with a particular focus on underserved youth and disabled athletes. He has also served on the board of MetroSquash, a Chicago-based organization that combines academic support, competitive squash, and enrichment opportunities to empower students to realize their potential and make their mark; and of OpenBooks and the National Center for Summer Learning, both focused on promoting literacy and learning. He continues to volunteer with MetroSquash, and is also a volunteer guide for visually impaired and wheelchair athletes through Dare2Tri.

He holds an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University, and is a member of the Chicago Club and the Economic Club of Chicago.
