Community Engagement Manager, Thierer Family Foundation

Dalia Almanza

Dalia is a Community Engagement Manager at Thierer Family Foundation. The Thierer Family Foundation works to increase the impact of nonprofits working throughout Chicagoland by helping them leverage technology to be more effective, efficient, and sustainable. Dalia engages with Chicago communities to carry out the mission of the Thierer Family Foundation.  

Prior to joining Thierer Family Foundation, Dalia spent 7 years working at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. In her most recent role as an Associate Manager of Public Benefits Outreach on the Public Benefits Outreach Team, Dalia worked with communities and partners to close the public benefits enrollment gap in Cook County, specifically among older adults and college students. Dalia also collaborated with a network of food pantries to build their capacity to increase public benefits enrollment in their communities. 

Dalia also spent 5 years with Legal Aid Chicago as a Community Outreach Coordinator, where she collaborated with attorneys and community partners to create awareness around legal rights and provided resources. Currently, Dalia is an Advisory Board Member for Our Lady of Tepeyac High School located in the vibrant community of Little Village. As a board member, Dalia recommends resources and programs to enhance and strengthen the opportunities for students and staff.  

 

Dalia obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from DePaul University in Chicago.
