Pursuing Research Opportunities in the Department of Biology

The following outlines the suggested steps to identify and apply for research positions. Please note that there are only ~23 faculty who have active research labs in the department. This page also has links for opportunities outside of the department that students should view. Positions in research labs are generally filled quickly, so please do not hesitate to apply – particularly in your freshman, sophomore or junior years. In addition, please plan on applying to labs a semester prior to your proposed start date.

Step 1: View the webpages/information of faculty in the department to gauge your interest:

Step 2: View this document to determine if faculty you are interested in working with have open positions at this time:

Step 3: Complete an application for research using this Undergraduate Research Application Portal (contact biolab@luc.edu if you would like further information or need to change faculty interest:

Step 4: Feel free to contact specific faculty via email to inquire about open positions if they identify as taking students.
