Internship Alternatives

In addition to jobs and internships, there are many ways you can deepen your skills, gain experience in your field and connect with professionals.

Check out LUC's  Micro-Internship Program. Micro-Internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns.

These projects offer you a way to deepen your skills, explore career paths, and build your network. Unlike traditional internships, micro-Internships can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off.

You can also try Driving Forward:

Work on a project as part of a five person team led by a coach with professional experience. Gain hands-on experience while building your portfolio and making meaningful contributions to real business challenges.

  • Duration: 10 week projects
  • Commitment: 8-12 hours per week
  • Format: Virtual
  • Outcomes: Paid internship on resume, hard and soft skill development

If you are looking for ways to deepen your skills via unpaid opportunities, Forage offers more than 300 job simulations from 125+ employers across a wide variety of industries.

These experiences are completely free for students, take 6-8 hours to complete and are self-paced.
