AI and Secure Computing Research Lab

The AI and Secure Computing (AISeC) Research Lab conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy, and secure computing. The lab focuses on developing trustworthy, resilient, and privacy-preserving AI systems while advancing the security of modern software, networks, and digital infrastructure. Research areas include machine learning for cybersecurity, software security, malware detection and analysis, adversarial machine learning, continuous user authentication, network security, online privacy, and AI applications for healthcare and social good.

Cyberbullying, a common form of online misbehavior, can do serious psychological and physical harm. This project integrates computer science and psychology frameworks to advance our understanding of how cyberbullying can be identified and prevented.

sandlab (Cybersecurity and Privacy Lab)

The Cybersecurity and Privacy Lab, also known as sandlab, looks at all things cybersecurity from theoretical to practical aspects. The lab is interdisciplinary and has involved researchers from Psychology, Criminal Justice & Criminology, Political Science, Sociology, Education, and Communication. Some examples of projects include distributed systems security, vehicle security, adversarial machine learning, anonymity, web privacy, wireless security, phishing, deepfakes, and AI security. Recomputing Lab

The Recomputing Lab at Loyola University Chicago explores what computing would look like if e-waste was not an inevitable. We examine the environmental, social, and political impacts of computing infrastructure. Our work reenvisions what the terrain of computing could look like: in improving our ability to recycle electronic waste, reduce wasteful consumption of electronic devices and material, and opt to resist and refuse computing technology when we do not consent to their application. We apply an interdisciplinary approach to our research combining technical expertise in computer science and electrical/computer engineering with sociotechnical analysis (human-computer interaction and science and technology studies).
