I have a "Dean of Students Info Required" ("LAD") hold on my account. How do I remove it?
Verification of required information takes place each year. If you have not completed the required process by September 6, a "Dean of Students Info Required" ("LAD") Hold will be placed on your account and will prevent registration for classes.
To remove the hold, complete the steps below that apply to your living situation.
Before you begin: Completely log out of LOCUS, then log back in before starting the process.
Students Living Off Campus
If you live off campus, you need to provide or confirm both your Emergency Contact information and your Local Off-Campus Address.
- Go to Profile → Emergency Contacts.
- Review your Emergency Contact information.
- If your information is already there, confirm it for the current academic year:
- If your information is missing or needs to be updated, enter the required information and save it.
- Go to Profile → Addresses.
- Find your Local Off-Campus Address.
- Review the address and make sure it is the address where you are currently living while attending Loyola.
- Even if your address has not changed, open the address and re-save it for the current academic year.
- Make sure the address is listed as Current.
Residential Students
If you live in a Loyola residence hall, you only need to provide or confirm your Emergency Contact information.
- Go to Profile → Emergency Contacts.
- Review your Emergency Contact information.
- If your information is already there, confirm it for the current academic year.
- If your information is missing or needs to be updated, enter the required information and save it.
I completed the required information, but my LAD hold is still there. What should I do?
- If you live off campus, both your Emergency Contact and Local Off-Campus Address must be completed.
- If your Emergency Contact information was already in LOCUS, make sure you confirmed it for the current academic year.
- If your Local Off-Campus Address was already in LOCUS, make sure you opened the address and re-saved it for the current academic year and that it is listed as Current.
After completing the required information, allow one business day for the hold to be removed. If the hold is still there after one business day, contact the Office of the Dean of Students for assistance.
What if LOCUS won't accept my address?
LOCUS checks addresses against an address database and can be particular about how an address is formatted.
If you receive an error when entering your address:
- Check that the street number, street name, city, state, and ZIP Code are correct.
- Try using a standard abbreviation for the street name. For example, LOCUS may recognize "123 W Main Street" but not "123 West Main Street."
- If you are unsure how your address is formatted, use the USPS ZIP Code Lookup to check the address and ZIP Code recognized by USPS.
- Return to LOCUS and try entering the address using the format recognized by USPS.
If you continue to receive an error after confirming your address information, contact the Office of the Dean of Students for assistance.
What if I don't have a Local Off-Campus Address?
If you live in a Loyola residence hall, you do not need to provide a Local Off-Campus Address. You only need to provide or confirm your Emergency Contact information.
If you live off campus, your Local Off-Campus Address should be the location where you are currently living while attending Loyola.
If you are living at your permanent or family home address, you can enter that address as your Local Off-Campus Address.
How long will it take for my hold to be removed?
LAD holds will be lifted within a 24-hour cycle, or 1 business day after you enter the necessary information into LOCUS.
If your hold remains after one business day, review the troubleshooting information above and contact the Office of the Dean of Students if you need assistance.
Whom do I contact if I need help or have questions?
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 773.508.8840 or go to the Student Services Hub located in the Sullivan Center at Lake Shore Campus.
