Jessica MansbachPh.D. Interim Director Clinical Assistant Professor, School of Education

Jessica earned a PhD from Michigan State University’s College of Education, Department of Educational Administration, in the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) program, a graduate study only program that is ranked 2nd among all higher education programs in the country. She has been involved with faculty development at three teaching and learning centers, including Michigan State University, Temple University, and University of Maryland University College. She also understands the unique challenges and opportunities confronting higher education policy in today’s complex, global environment. Since receiving her Master of Social Work degree, she has assisted university students within residence life, supervised Resident Assistants, led crisis intervention teams, offered counseling, taught college level courses, and provided academic advising.

Justin D. Wright, MA (They/Them/Theirs) Anti-Oppressive Pedagogies Specialist Faculty Development

As a sociocultural anthropologist, performance studies scholar, theater artist, and DEI and Anti-Racism specialist, Justin is skilled in social and organizational research methodologies, education, and training concerning cultural memory, transgenerational trauma, and anti-oppressive and anti-racist pedagogies. As a Ph.D. candidate in Socio-cultural Anthropology at American University, Justin also focuses on anti-racism in education, combatting social death in Black Queer populations, identity reconstruction in marginalized youth, and creative/experimental Black ethnographic methodologies.

In their current position as the inaugural Anti-Oppressive Pedagogies Specialist in Faculty Development at Loyola University Chicago, Justin leads the design, execution, and management of Anti-Oppressive (AOP), anti-racist (ARP), and DEI-focused pedagogical strategies and programs for educators across our 4 university campuses. With 9 years of experience in crafting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, & Belonging (DEIAB) strategies for university and business leaders and training educators in anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and DEIAB-focused pedagogies for practical application, they have a demonstrated track record in AOP, ARP, and DEI change-making and leadership.

Andrea Vargas Graduate Student Program Coordinator

Andrea is a passionate digital media enthusiast currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Digital Media and Storytelling at Loyola University Chicago. Originally from Bolivia, she brings a unique international perspective shaped by her diverse professional experiences and multicultural background. 

Currently, she works as a Graduate Student Program Coordinator at the Faculty Center for Ignatian Pedagogy (FCIP) at Loyola University Chicago. In this role, she coordinates programs, manage communications, and support initiatives that promote faculty development.
