Thanksgiving Initiatives

Dear Loyola HSC Community,

As the calendar turns to November, our community begins the celebration of Ignatian Heritage Month, and we once again activate to support individuals and families in Maywood and the surrounding Proviso community through collective contributions to the Quinn Center’s Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Quinn Center offers year-round, comprehensive services, programs, and resources to hundreds of local families. They are a valued partner in our shared mission of holistic health and healing in our community.

How are we asked to help?
By connecting with your department, colleagues, student organizations, course small groups, friends, or family to discuss how you will contribute.

  • DONATE:
Donate food items or gift cards via any of the following methods:
    • Amazon Wish List (delivered directly to Quinn)
    • Walmart Wish List (delivered directly to Quinn)
    • Online monetary donations
    • Purchase food items and bring to the Quinn Center in person. Donors who choose this option are kindly asked to bring only items on this requested items list.
    • Purchase $10 gift cards for Jewel, Target, Walmart, Tony’s, or Aldi only, please! Buying in this specific denomination and for these stores greatly helps their coordination.

** All donations, whether via the online registries or in-person drop-off, must be delivered to the Quinn Center by 7 pm on Wednesday, November 15th.

  • VOLUNTEER at QUINN:
Sign-up individually or with a group or department. Volunteers are needed to prepare the boxes of donated items and to distribute the boxes to families before Thanksgiving. Please sign-up here for a 2-hour shift. Volunteers are needed from Nov. 12 – Nov. 22.

  • DOCUMENT:
Whether you donate food items, purchase off a wish list, or volunteer your time, please download and complete this form - and either take it with you to the Quinn Center, or email it to ccgh@luc.edu.

Final notes
:

  • If you or someone you know is in need of food or help this Thanksgiving, please see Quinn’s program here.
  • Again, please note the donation deadline of Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7PM! This greatly helps them plan and ensure everyone in need can be served.
