Professional Development and Jesuit Values

The call to the profession of nursing is both unique and sacred. We recognize the long legacy and esteemed history of the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing in the Chicagoland region and the country, and we support and inspire Loyola nurses to integrate the values of a Jesuit education into their professional identity and practice.

Through in-class presentations and reflection sessions, as well as cohort-based moments for ritual and celebration, the Health Sciences Campus Ministry office provides intentional ways for ABSN students to reflect on their studies, chosen career, and overall personal well-being in light of Jesuits values and the gifts of Ignatian Spirituality.

Over their four semesters of study, ABSN student explore the integration of their professional development and the Jesuit values or Ignatian reflective practices of:

  • Cura Personalis, “Care for the Whole Person”
  • People for Others
  • Contemplation in Action
  • God in All Things
  • Ignatian Examen
