Maureen and Robert Schuberth, 2023 Spirit of Felice Award recipients

2023's Spirit of Felice Award Winners

Until now, the Spirit of Felice Award was only awarded to individuals. However, this year, we have two recipients: Bob and Maureen Schuberth. They met at Loyola Rome in the Fall of 1966, with Bob joining in the Spring of that year. Maureen continued into the Spring of 1967 and later graduated from Loyola Chicago in 1968 with a BA in history, while Bob graduated from DePaul University. Bob established and led Schuberth Real Estate, a property management company he founded in 1980, and Maureen, a former teacher, worked in the Chicago public school system, as well as in gifted education, and served as a docent at the Art Institute for 20 years.

Together with Leonard Slotkowski, Bob and Maureen initiated the Forza Roma Travel Fund in 1998, inspired by John Felice's generosity. The fund was created to support student travel and exploration. Forza Roma has supported over 1,000 Loyola Rome students, enabling them to explore Italy and Europe, enriching their experiences.

Today, Loyola Rome boasts a world-class alumni network of 23,000 former students, thanks in part to Bob and Maureen's dedication and generosity. They are pioneers of Loyola Rome philanthropy, exemplifying the importance of giving back and preserving John Felice's legacy.
