Uncovering paths to student success
Eva Mika,
Interim Associate Dean, Assessment and Compliance,
Clinical Associate Professor of Applied Psychology
An expert in fostering a sense of community in online educational settings, program evaluation, and curriculum assessment, Eva Mika first joined the Loyola University Chicago faculty in 2003. As an adjunct faculty member, she taught psychology and gender studies courses for the Department
of Psychology while continuing her work as the director of research curriculum and training at a private online university.
In 2017, she joined SCPS in a full-time role to oversee undergraduate curriculum development, quality, and assessment. She also began mentoring SCPS adjunct faculty on best practices related to instructing adult learners.
While continuing to teach courses in applied behavioral science herself, Mika has played an instrumental role in developing outcomes assessment and metrics across SCPS, from evaluating critical thinking skills in the formation of legal arguments within the Institute of Paralegal Studies to examining student proficiency in representing complex data visually in the information technology curriculum.
In 2025, Loyola’s Division of Academic Affairs named Mika the recipient of its Vincent J. Duminuco, S.J., Award for Assessment Leadership. The annual award recognizes leadership in assessment work to propel positive learning outcomes for Loyola students.
