Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)

What is ELP?

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a program offered through the Center for Student Engagement (CSE), which is intended to provide a space for students to gain an introduction into leadership concepts. Guided by the Social Change Model of leadership development, ELP aims to form leaders for others. By participating in this program, students will be exposed to having in-depth conversations about the foundations of leadership, positive social change, self-reflection, and campus involvement. Through these discussions and activities, students will develop the leadership skills and competencies necessary to facilitate positive change on campus and in their communities. It is our dedication to help students build their capacity and understanding of leadership, progress, and success

Goals and Learning Outcomes

As a result of participating in the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), students will be able to:

  • Challenge their own assumptions on how leadership is defined, gain a new sense of understanding and awareness to identify and apply the various models of leadership.
  • Develop transformative practices of leadership, examine the different perspectives of leadership, and apply them through the workshops.
  • Engage in workshops and conversations centered around leadership, uphold a brave space culture, and learn to give and accept constructive feedback.
  • Encourage collaboration within team members and engage in conversation inclusive to all experiences, perspectives, and various identities.
  • Build connections of knowledge and skills learned to the practices and values of a Jesuit institution.
  • Evaluate and assess your own learning and growth in program to build confidence, competence, and improve practices as a leader.
  • Participate in reflective practices to add meaning and purpose to your learning.
