Carolyn Smith

Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, Robert Morris University Illinois

Carolyn is an experienced communication and fundraising professional with more than a decade of experience working on behalf of corporations, nonprofits, government agencies, and arts and entertainment organizations. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Robert Morris University Illinois, where she leads the institution's fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. Prior to this position, she was the Director of Development at Black Ensemble Theatre, and worked at Chicago Commons, a social service agency, in communications and fundraising. Carolyn credits her family's legacy of activism for her desire to advocate for the issues and challenges that face communities.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and a Master’s degree from Columbia College Chicago. In an effort to see beyond her tiny place in the world, Carolyn loves to travel and frequent the restaurants in Chicago's dining scene.
