Former CEO, Morton Salt

Christian Herrmann is an International Business Executive and Transformation Expert with deep experience leading transformative growth, efficiency and culture strategies. He was the leader in the major turnaround of one of America’s most iconic companies as Chief Executive Officer of Morton Salt, bringing the strong combination of financial acumen and entrepreneurial approach to improve the value of the company for owners and employees.

He developed and implemented a successful business strategy to reignite the Morton Salt business and brand, transforming it from a $1 billion company into a $1.7 billion operating unit across the Americas and doubling the operating margin. He successfully integrated the South and North American salt operations into one cohesive operating unit and oversaw more than 25 manufacturing sites and 3,500 employees in the Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Peru and the U.S.

Christian earned a Master of Business Administration from Eberhard Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. He is certified through the CFA Institute, USA, with Chartered Financial Analyst Designation (CFA). He is a Member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the CFA Society of Chicago. He also served as a Paramedic in the German Red Cross.

The recipient of several awards, Christian was named a Finalist EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, Region Midwest, in 2015. Throughout his career he has followed five guiding principles: think big, step up, do the right thing, play to win, thrive together.

Christian and his wife are the parents of a teenage daughter. He enjoys running along the lakefront with his dog and enjoys going out with his family and trying new restaurants as well as cooking at home.
