Mark Hoppe

Mark Hoppe is regional president of Fifth Third Bank, N.A. (Chicago). He is responsible for the overall leadership of all business lines in the region, with focus on driving the Bank’s growth in Business, Commercial, Wealth & Asset Management, Capital Markets and Treasury Management solutions.
Mark joined Fifth Third in 2019 through its acquisition of MB Financial, Inc. There he was president and CEO of MB Financial Bank and served on the board of MB Financial, Inc.
Mark has been in banking for more than 40 years, including serving as president and CEO of Cole Taylor Bank and its parent, Taylor Capital, for six years. Before that, Mark spent 27 years at LaSalle Bank in a variety of roles, including three years as CEO of LaSalle Bank Midwest.
Originally from Wisconsin, Mark has proudly called Chicago home since 1981. He and his wife, Mary, have four children and two grandchildren, all living in the Chicago area.
Education
Mark earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Wisconsin.
Professional and Civic
Mark is past chairman of the Illinois Bankers Association and past president of the Bankers Club of Chicago. He is a member of the board of directors and the finance committee of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and he serves on the board of advisors and executive committee for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He also serves on the board of trustees, audit committee, and student development and success committee for Loyola University Chicago.
Mark is vice chairman of the board of trustees for Window to the World Communications, Inc., operator of public media outlets WTTW-TV and WFMT-FM, and serves on various committees, including the development and finance committees.
