About Us

Art is a vital expression of our humanity, and as such the Division of Fine Arts at Loyola University Chicago is based on the Jesuit principal of “cura personalis” – care for the whole person.

Through the framework of intellectual curiosity, we challenge our students to consider the human condition by raising global, ethical, and social justice concerns. We provide a creative and inclusive space to explore problems, inviting our students to investigate varied solutions. Through interdisciplinary artistic and research practices, students work across a range of ideas to develop critical consciousness. We aim to set students on the path to becoming productive, responsible and engaged artists and citizens of the world.
