A bit about Maryam...
- Where's your hometown? I am a proud Chicago Native! I was born and raised on the Southwest side of Chicago.
- What’s one highlight from your first semester of college? I loved meeting new people! I also got to have so much independence, and it really taught me to be on top of my responsibilities.
- What do you wish you’d known when you started college? It is okay to not know what you want to do yet! College is an opportunity to learn and try new things, especially in your first and second year of college.
- What do you like about advising first and second year students? As a first-generation college graduate, I understand how scary it can be to come to college and be a student. I want to be the best supporter and advocate for my students to help set them up for success.
- What’s your favorite thing about Loyola? Loyola’s value for Cura personalis is one of the many things I admire about this institution. I approach life through an intersectional perspective, and I admire that Loyola does the same not only with their students, but with their staff as well.
- What’s your favorite thing about Chicago? There are so many things to list, but what draws me to Chicago is the city’s value for community. I grew up understanding and appreciating all the cultures and traditions that this city holds and it is deeply tied to me.
- What do you like to do in your spare time? In my spare time, I love to cook, bake, hang out with my community, and explore new coffee shops!
