Cura Scholars

Cura, or “care” in Latin, is a key part of the Jesuit vision for higher education. It is most often expressed in the phrase cura personalis, or “care for the whole person,” where a key part of education at Loyola University Chicago means not only communicating ideas to students in the classroom but seeing the educational endeavor as caring for the whole of our students – mind, body, and spirit.

The Cura Scholars Program seeks to deliver that whole-person care to a key part of our student community –our students of color who are historically underrepresented at Loyola and most other institutions of higher education. The program will deliver enhanced academic, co-curricular, extracurricular, professional and personal development, financial support, and other services to facilitate academic success to participants.
