Gavin has served for the last 12 years as the Township Manager for Oak Park Township, a public body providing locally governed supportive services to the Oak Park community. The Township is a respected community partner and provider of proactive, responsive, and relevant social services for all Oak Park residents at every stage of life.

In his role with the Township, Gavin supervises day-to-day operations and works closely with the elected Board, which is responsible for delivering results to Oak Park taxpayers. Gavin supports and guides a team of professional staff, addressing the needs of youth, seniors, individuals in financial need, and people dealing with behavioral health issues.

Prior to his current role, Gavin worked for the City of Evanston in the City Manager’s Office and the City of Elmhurst in the Planning Department. Gavin volunteers at his church as the Chair of the congregation and runs with Back on My Feet, a national non-profit that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Prior to his career in local government, Gavin served as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching English as a foreign language for middle school and high school students in Kyrgyzstan.

Gavin enjoys learning and approaches the world with curiosity. He is optimistic about possibilities for cultivating diversity, equity and inclusion and addressing societal issues such as unemployment, homelessness, and helping people meet their basic needs.
