GROW at Loyola

Guided Reflection on Work at Loyola  

GROW* at Loyola was implemented in 2024 by Career Services to enhance the student employment experience for students and supervisors. The program introduces NACE competencies, support strong supervision, and provides the framework to help student employees reflect on how their student employment position compliments their academic work. GROW at Loyola helps students articulate their experiences, skill sets, and transferable skills as they apply for internships, post-graduation positions, and graduate school.  

GROW at Loyola is open to both on-campus and off-campus partners who aspire to enhance the student employment experience within their office.  

 

What is GROW at Loyola?

GROW (Guided Reflection on Work) at Loyola uses brief, structured conversations between student employees and their supervisors to help students connect the skills and knowledge they are gaining in the classroom with the work they are doing and vice versa. Each semester supervisors intentionally meet with their employees at least two times to discuss 5 key questions. Through structured conversation and reflection students can gain valuable insight, become more self-aware, and grow personally and professionally.  

Interested in joining GROW at Loyola?

GROW virtual sessions are provided once a quarter for all supervisors who are interested in implementing the program with their student employees.  

How do I register to attend an upcoming session?

Please complete the registration form to sign up for a session. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a calendar invite with the Zoom details.

What is the commitment level?

Commit to attending one virtual session.  

Provide the names and email addresses of student employees to the program administrator.  

Have intentional conversations with your students using the '5 key questions' twice a semester. 

Have student employees complete the end of the year reflection activity. 

Commit to referring students to appropriate campus resources as needed. 

Review programmatic communications and utilize program resources as needed
