Yesenia Favela
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Yesenia Favela has served schools and districts in the Chicago area over the last decade in her role as a bilingual and bicultural school psychologist. Guided by her experience in working with multilingual and diverse learners and their families, she advocates for the centering and empowering of marginalized voices, strength-based services, and linguistically and culturally responsive best practices. Dr. Favela honors her work with marginalized school communities through a long believed commitment to addressing inequitable and oppressive structures and systems that serve as barriers to student, school, and community well-being. She received her doctoral degree in school psychology from Loyola University Chicago. Areas of interest include supporting refugee, immigrant, and multilingual learners, Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and liberatory and socially just frameworks.
