Yesenia Favela

Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Yesenia Favela is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School Psychology program at Loyola University Chicago. She received her doctoral degree in school psychology from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Favela is a bilingual and bicultural nationally certified school psychologist, and has over a decade of experience serving schools and districts in the Chicago area. Guided by her experiences in working with historically underserved school communities, she is passionate about centering and empowering marginalized voices, strength-based services, and linguistically and culturally responsive best practices. She values bringing those experiences to the classroom at Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Favela is a lifelong learner who shares a commitment to addressing inequitable structures and systems that serve as barriers to student, school, and community well-being. Areas of interest include refugee, immigrant, and multilingual learner supports, Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and social justice advocacy.
