 Teacher Support in Pedagogical Practices

Participating teachers in PDC receive support in the form of one-on-one coaching, ongoing professional development, communities of practice, and funding for both their efforts and external learning experiences for their students throughout the year. Over the summer, teachers can sign up for a five day Civics Institute to dive deeper into core practices for civic learning. The PDC teacher cohort also features time to collaborate with colleagues and plan curriculum for the year during a summer institute.

In partnership with the Critical Learning Collaborative, teachers engage in workshops around the following core pedagogical strategies for civic education & student engagement: critical inquiry, inquiry learning, engaging lived experience, examining social identities, and asset based community development.
