Meghan Johnke

Clinical Teaching Fellow

Meghan Johnke is a clinical fellow in the Health Justice Project teaching civil litigation skills in an environment centered on experiential and interdisciplinary learning. Before joining Loyola Chicago's team, Meghan worked as a public defender in Queens Family Court. As a senior attorney, Meghan defended the rights of parents in child abuse and neglect proceedings, striving to protect her clients' fundamental liberty interest in the care and custody of their children. Through this work, she collaborated with social workers and parent advocates to provide interdisciplinary representation to reduce the harm inflicted by the family policing system and prevent or minimize exposure to the foster care system. Meghan deeply believes in providing clients with holistic legal and health care to address the health-harming systemic inequities that persist within our society. Meghan is honored to join the Health Justice Project in its commitment to ensuring that the health care needs of every community are represented and respected.
