Brett E. Legner is counsel in the Supreme Court and appellate practice group at Mayer Brown LLP. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Illinois Attorney General and then Deputy Solicitor General of Illinois. He has filed over 300 appellate briefs in the Supreme Court of the United States, federal appellate courts, Illinois Supreme Court, Illinois appellate courts, and the appellate courts of other States. He has presented more than 95 appellate arguments, including to the Supreme Court of the United States, Illinois Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and every Illinois appellate district. He was a law clerk to the Honorable Robert V. Boharic of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, Chancery Division.
