“IP Nationalism: Addressing the COVID Crisis and Beyond” (under submission)
This article coins and explains the phenomenon of IP nationalism that is exacerbating current COVID vaccine shortages. Just as some nations hoard vaccines, some also hoard critical knowledge and resist modifying IP rights that could alleviate shortages. Ho explains how the current crisis reflects a broader pattern of wealthy countries imposing worldwide IP protections that often result in racial inequities regarding access to existing treatments and proposes how to counteract this unnecessary inequality.
