School of Law graduates get ready to set the world on fire
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the School of Law celebrated its 351 graduates during the commencement 2025 ceremony in Gentile Arena. Dean Michèle Alexandre greeted the audience members, and the keynote speaker was Mary L. Smith (BS ’84), immediate past president of the American Bar Association and former CEO of Indian Health Service. Smith also received an honorary degree from the University. The student speaker was Ashton Yeh, president of Loyola’s Student Bar Association.

“The pursuit of legal knowledge … is not an experience that can be achieved in isolation,” Dean Michèle Alexandre said. “It requires an openness to engage with people, places, and circumstances, with which we are unfamiliar but willing, with humility and appreciation, to learn. We know that you—first as students, and now as graduates—embrace and value this approach to education.”
