Competency Equivalent Online Teaching Fundamentals
The competency equivalent option was created to allow online instructors to submit artifacts for review instead of taking the Online Teaching Fundamentals course if they are required to take the course to teach online. A Credly badge is not available with this option.
Requirements
To be eligible for the competency equivalent of the Online Teaching Fundamentals course, an instructor must meet the following requirements:
- The instructor has received notice from their academic unit that they are required to take Online Teaching Fundamentals to teach online.
- The instructor has taught online, blended, or hybrid, for at least 2 years or 4 terms, at any institution.
Artifacts
To complete the competency equivalent of the Online Teaching Fundamentals course, an instructor must submit the following artifacts:
- Syllabus: Your course syllabus
- Sakai Site: A Sakai project site with a fully developed online course
- Instructors must copy their course site into a project site before submitting to protect student privacy.
- Other learning management systems (ex: Canvas, Moodle, etc.) cannot be submitted because instructors need to demonstrate their ability to build a course using the tools available to them at LUC.
- Example Feedback: An anonymized assessment that provides an example of feedback given to a student.
